Is Thrify free?
Yes. Thrify is free to use and does not require an account or an app download. It works in any modern browser on your phone or computer.
How does Thrify choose which thrift stores to show?
Thrify searches Google Maps around your location, skips stores marked as permanently or temporarily closed, and ranks the rest by rating and number of reviews. By default it picks the top five within five miles. Open Customize to widen the radius up to ten miles, raise or lower the minimum rating, or search for something else such as vintage or consignment shops.
How is the route planned?
Thrify sends the stores to Google’s Directions service with route optimization turned on, which returns the order that visits every stop with the least travel time. By default the route is a loop that ends where it started, but you can set a different ending address in Customize.
Can I change the order or skip a store?
Yes. Use the arrows on each stop (or drag it on a computer) to reorder, or tap the × to remove a store. Thrify recalculates the distance and time automatically.
Can I plan a route from somewhere other than where I am?
Yes. Open Customize, turn off “My location” for the start or end, and type any address. This is handy for planning a thrift day in another neighborhood or along the way home from work.
Does Thrify store my location?
No. Your approximate location is used only to search for nearby stores and plan the route, and Thrify does not save it. If you share a route, the link contains a rounded location (to roughly 100 meters) so your friend can load the same search. See our privacy policy for details.
Why can’t I open the route in Apple Maps?
Links into Apple Maps don’t reliably carry more than one destination, so a multi-stop route could lose its stops. Google Maps accepts the full route with all stops in order, and it works on both iPhone and Android.
Are store hours always accurate?
Hours come from Google Maps and are usually reliable, but thrift stores sometimes change hours for holidays, inventory or staffing. If a stop is important to you, call ahead.
A store I like is missing. Why?
It may be outside the search radius, below the minimum rating, listed under a different category on Google Maps, or marked as closed. Try widening the radius or lowering the minimum rating in Customize.
